This site was promoted through the new Hambleton Local Plan process for 30 dwellings, and had been an allocation in the Publication version of the Hambleton Local Plan (Site GTA 1: Skottowe Crescent, Great Ayton) although was removed in the adopted version of the Local Plan.
The proposed site is well located for village services, adjoins an existing affordable homes development and would incorporate large green spaces in keeping with its surroundings. The intention is to create a development of exceptional design which would enhance rather than detract from the setting of the Conservation Area.
An outline application for up to 30 dwellings was submitted to Hambleton Council in 2021 which was refused by the Planning Committee. This decision was appealed and subsequently dismissed in April 2022.
